Hi! I'm Charlotte Dennis. I'm an illustrator and artist from Austin, Texas.
As a child, drawing was my favorite thing to do - in a notebook in the car, with sidewalk chalk at the park, in art class at school, or with my mom or siblings at the kitchen table. I was lucky to have lots of opportunities to make and learn about art at school, in day camps and classes, and at home. I then had the pleasure of training in the visual arts through McCallum High School's fine arts program, and went on to earn a BFA in Studio Art at Southwestern University with a focus in painting, as well as a BA in Feminist Studies. I worked various jobs while painting after hours in Austin and San Antonio. And then, I went back into the world where I grew up - children's art education at camps, studios, and after-school programs (but now as one of the grown-ups)! I worked at programs in Austin and in Sydney, Australia. Through these experiences, I became inspired to pursue my early love of illustration and picture books, which is where I feel very lucky to be working today. I hope to bring many more stories and ideas to life through pictures. Contact: [email protected] Member of SCBWI Austin Books: Where Does the Freshest Food Hide?
